Hi I would like to add few comments on Fellowship.
We normally used to have some online training sessions to train and
update about what happening in our groups and other ICANN policies with
update. Yes, its good but by giving a fellowship we take only one or two
person from a country ( Limited number with investing more ) , giving them
training and experience during ICANN sessions to expecting that they will
contribute more in the future ( failure rates apply ).
What if we can send an expert to each and every country to
deliverer some valuable training for 5 or 10 days ( More participants may
be 20-30 nos ) by covering all what they may learn by attending three ICANN
meetings ( Which 3 fellowship and cost more ). Later giving them assignment
and see how they contribute to those assignments and engaging the
activities with Local and ICANN. Later we may consider ( or recommend )
them to fellowship to attend ICANN. Where they will be highly
knowledgeable and can expect results during the ICANN Meetings ( Result
oriented ).
Even for me I have very less knowledge here but willing to
contribute more. Still I am picking from all the corners and learning. I am
not fully confident to comment or contribute even though I am willing to
contribute.
APNIC is running same methodology to training but their not selecting
fellows from those whom attended training but how they fill the Fellowship
Application from based on what they did so far for the community and
contribution towards to it.
If any trainer coming to Srilanka ? I am sure I can do the all the
ground works here by promotions, location for the training, If any
Materials to print all I can. Also I am sure I can get more then 30
Participants for the training.
Always welcome to Land of Paradise Srilanka.
