2017 Nigeria Internet Governance Forum (NIGF)
The Multistakeholder Advisory Group of the Nigeria Internet Governance
Forum (NIGF-MAG), comprising of the Federal Ministry of Communications
(FMoC), National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA),
Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Nigeria Internet Registration
Association (NIRA), Internet Society Nigeria Chapter (ISOC), Digital SENSE
Africa Media, Creative Tech. Development International (CTDI) and Global
Network for Cybersolution (GNC) in collaboration with other local
stakeholders is organizing the NIGF 2017.
The Forum is scheduled to hold at Umaru Musa Yar'Adua Hall, Muhammad
Murtala Square, Race Course Road, Kaduna, from the 10th - 13th of July,
2017. The 2017 edition of the NIGF will feature a series of Pre-IGF events
in the following sequence:
1. an exclusive 2 days training for Law Enforcement Agents on "DNS (Domain
Name System) abuse and the role of the Law Enforcement Agents" by the
Public Safety Working Group of the ICANN (Internet Cooperation for Assigned
Names and Numbers) on the 10th & 11th of July, 2017;
2. a day's Youths Workshop with theme "Internet: Empowering the Connected
Youths" on the 12th of July, 2017;
3. The Main Forum (NIGF 2017) holds on the 13th of July, 2017 and is
comprised of Plenary and Syndicate sessions, detail of which will be in the
program agenda;
Objective
This Year's Objective is Focused on Engaging the Multi-Stakeholder Nature
of the Forum to Harness and Aggregate Productive Ideas, Best Practices and
Experiences that can Facilitate the Process of Achieving the National
Economic Recovery & Growth Plan of our dear Country.
NIGF 2017 SUB-THEMES
The sub-themes for the forum this year are:
1. Empowering Rural Agricultural Community
2. Empowering Trade, Investment & Industry for inclusive growth
3. Enabling Internet Regulations with Innovations
4. Empowering Sub-National Community for Sustainable Internet Governance
5. Enabling digital intervention for Sustainable Development
6. Internet Broadband for accelerated Economic Recovery
