[NCUC-DISCUSS] Brazil gov decree wants to shape a new multistakeholder model

Dear all

A decree by Brazilian gov, Secretary of Informatics Policy, launching
a country wide consultation to "modernize internet governance"
This is being seen by Brazilian activists as a way to shape a new
multistakeholder representation body, which is currently the function
of CGI.br
CGI.br along w/ Brazilian activists was largely responsible for Brazil
Digital Rights bill.
Some activists are referring to this as a CGIbr coup

While there are activists who disagree w/ CGIbr representation, the
alternative of current corruption ridden government shaping a new
model is extremely concerning.

All actions are being played out in Brasilia (gov capital) and Sao
Paulo (financial capital)

Consulta Pública acerca da modernização da estrutura de governança da
Internet bra- sileira. O SECRETÁRIO DE POLÍTICA DE INFORMÁTICA, no uso
das atribuições que lhe foram conferidas pelo art. 28 do Anexo ao
Decreto no 8.877, de 18 de outubro de 2016, informa o início de
Consulta Pública para debate acerca da modernização da estrutura de
governança da Internet brasileira. O texto completo da consulta
pública estará disponível no endereço de Internet
http://www.participa.br/cpgovernancainternet a partir das 14:00hs de
terça-feira, 08 de agosto de 2017. As contribuições e sugestões
fundamentadas e devidamente identificadas devem ser encaminhadas por
meio do endereço acima mencionado, até às 18:00hs do dia 08 de
