Here is a program made in 1993 about the hopes and promises of the
internet, or as some called it The Information Highway.

https://vimeo.com/187593223

This was an effort by our Paper Tiger TV collective to explain the
sometimes confused (even one of the US senators called it “tubes”)
proliferation of new technologies.

The program was shown on local cable access in NYC and transmitted via
satellite to community channels around the United States. It was also
distributed to grassroots organizations in Brazil, Japan, Holland, France
and Korea.

Included are interviews about the early use of community computing in Santa
Monica, California and New Mexico and the beginnings of the Electronic
Frontier Foundation. Includes interviews with Richard Civille, Daniel
Weitzner, Nancy Kranich, Willamena Cook and many other cyber pioneers.

Completely missing from the prognostications are cellphones!

Enjoy,
