[NCUC-DISCUSS] Nomination of David Cake for the NCUC Executive Committee

I would like to second James nomination of David Cake for the NCUC EC 
position representing Asia. In this time of transition for the EC  David's 
experience would provide the relatively young and new-to-ICANN members 
populating the other regional EC slots the senior leadership necessary to 
help them achieve their goals. I hope that David will accept this 
nomination.
  
 David Cake needs no introduction to most of us. Chair of Electronic 
Frontiers Australia, David has held a number of positions within the NCUC 
(including that of Interim Chair) and the GNSO (including two years as Vice 
Chair of the GNSO Council). Dave currently is the Vice Chair of the 
important RDS working group where his attendance rate of 91.4% is tops 
amongst noncommercial participants. His ability to couple his WG leadership 
with an Executive Committee position will ensure his presence at most ICANN 
face to face meetings: something that is essential as we continue to be 
outnumbered by a large margin on the RDS.
  
 David's intelligence and even tempered manner has led him to being amongst 
our most respected members throughout the ICANN community. As a newly 
elected Councillor during David's tenure as Vice Chair of the GNSO  I often 
turned to him for advice and guidance as I tried to determine how to be 
effective on Council. He was  always willing to help myself and the other 
NCSG volunteers new to Council. I trust he'll be able to do the same for 
what appears will be a newly elected EC that will be long on energy and 
ambition but a bit short on the type of experience that David can provide. 

  
 I thank David for his many years of volunteer effort on our behalf, hope 
he will accept this nomination and that you, our members, will chose to 
select him for next years NCUC Executive Committee.
