Agreed. Bill is an inspired choice for NomCom and we would all be fortunate should he be willing to continue in that position.

I'd also like to acknowledge Bill's predecessor, Brenden Kuerbis, and thank him not only for his service but also for the results of his performance. NomCom is a bit opaque so often the only way to determine how well it has worked is to see the appointments and see how they worked. My experience with the NomCom appointees on Council the past two years, a result of the NomCom's work during Brenden's tenure, is that they all have been exceptional contributors to our work in the GNSO. Having a voting member as qualified and conscientious as Julf Helsingus during the past year, along with the work and support of Carlos in the nonvoting position the past two years, has made the work of all the NCSG Councillors much easier. Thank you Brenden.

Bill should also be commended for his work this year in shedding a little light into NomCom operations. He's told us as much as he can and I've greatly appreciated his insight.

It should be noted that the CSG has three times the representation on the NomCom as does the NCSG. Our colleagues in NPOC continue to be denied a slot on the body, the only GNSO constituency treated in this manner. While making the fine short handed work of Bill and Brenden all the more impressive, the principle of equity with our commercial friends is one we need to insist on and should pursue with increased vigour as ICANN enters a new era.

Best,

Ed
