Hello Farzaneh,

Good to know. I am Farell from Africa2.0 Organization. I know the Africa Internet Summit very well, and I’ve been a speaker for a couple of times. I know many people participating to this summit and its related workshops/seminars/trainings. I’ll be happy to participate and make an efficient outreach for NCUC.

However, I just need a little time to know more about NCUC and the way the sub groups work.

Dear NCUC members

A couple of days ago you received an email from Rafik about CROPP. CROPP is a pilot program run by ICANN which supports participation at conferences for the constituency outreach. 5 slots go to ncuc members we have already allocated one. We now have 4.

I would like to give you some ideas as to how you can apply for such funding:

Members from Asia Pacific, you can submit a request to go to AprIGF or any other event. Your request should concretely say how you would like to do outreach for NCUC. Your proposal can also include attendance at a workshop but you have to bear in mind that you need to do outreach.

Members from Europe especially South East Europe: you can ask for funding to go to SEEDIG to hold a session, target a group for outreach etc.

Members from Africa :you can go to Africa Internet Summit. Remember it is required that you have a plan for outreach and a session or a target group to talk to about NCUC.

Members from Latin America, you can go to CIVICUS. http://civicus.org/ICSW/

As to North America, I was wondering if USA IGF would be a good target meeting, however as it will be held in July I don't think we can allocate CROPP to it. Hence, please those members from North America, step forward and suggest a potential conference that is worth going and suitable for NCUC outreach.

These are all suggestions, you can request for CROPP for any other conference in any other region, and then EC decides. This was just to give you a couple of examples.

Please bear in mind that we need proposals for outreach, the intention to attend a conference is not enough justification.

Look forward to your proposals.

Rafik's email for CROPP request is as below: .

Subject: [NCUC-DISCUSS] [Announcement] Call for CROPP proposals

Dear NCUC members,

The Community Regional Outreach Pilot Program (CROPP) <https://community.icann.org/display/croppfy16/Community+Regional+Outreach+Pilot+Program+%28CROPP%29-FY16+Home> allocates each constituency with funds for five travel slots to attend a meeting/event. As the program name says, support is for outreach. We had five slots for 2016; one has already been allocated to an NCUC member to attend CPDP http://www.cpdpconferences.org/ in Brussels.

At the moment we have four opportunities for funding to attend conferences/events and do NCUC outreach.

You are invited to send us proposals to get funded to attend a conference that is related to Internet policy/governance and ICANN and civil society work, and give us a concrete action plan on how you will do outreach for NCUC. For example, this might be organizing a short 30 minute session at the conference or if possible a side event. The deadline for submitting CROPP requests is March 15. If the EC does not receive enough or satisfactory proposals the deadline will be extended.

Priority will go to regions that have not been allocated CROPP. Especially Africa, Asia-Pacific, South East Europe and Central Asia. However the main priority is the quality of the proposal and how you will carry out outreach.

Please note that the CROPP request should be received at least 8 weeks prior to the conference or the event. If the event you are considering is scheduled to be held in less than eight weeks from the date of receipt of application, we might have difficulties accepting and processing the request. Proposals for the target events should be within the timeframe of 2016 ICANN Fiscal Year, that is, the events should happen before 30th, June, 2016.

The eligibility criteria:

1. Concrete outreach plan with a targeted audience.

2. Conferences that are related to ICANN and NCUC mission - They do not have to be Internet related but can be related to for example transparency of corporations or bottom up policy making. The relation to ICANN and NCUC mission should be justified.

Participants are required to write a blogpost about the conference, and to report on their outreach to the NCUC Executive Committee, giving any leads to organizations and individuals who showed interest to join NCUC.

Best Regards,

Rafik

NCUC Chair
