Hi Kathy
Plenary 4 is dedicated to any other topics people want to bring up. We have 90 minutes, so surely we can raise and press UDRP concerns then. We could also raise them in Plenary 3 when we talk gTLDs, with Fadi, with Larry, in the constituency and SG meetings…plenty of chances. Can we look to you to lead on this? Also, it’d be great if you could bring it up in the NCUC meeting Wednesday, along with any other trademark etc. concerns.
Stephanie please see the full Agenda Rafik sent the PC list you’re on.
Best

This very first ICANN consensus policy was a huge problem for us in 1999, and fighting for noncommercial rights was an enormous issue. Now everyone seems to know what is happening with its upcoming "policy review process" (due to start sometime this Spring) except us. To all of our Chairs, could you please find a time to add it somewhere in the agenda of next week's meeting and ask ICANN Staff for at least a quick briefing? It's very timely and important.

I sent a message earlier today to NCSG-discuss listing our participants, and I imagine Rafik will be providing more info there soon. In the meanwhile, I'd just like to directly encourage NCUC members to join us remotely if you are able, the talks by Larry Strickling and Fadi and the four plenary sessions should be worthwhile, as our interactions with business counterparts in the CSG are important.

>>> Also: we are taking advantage of the opportunity to organize an informal NCUC outreach meeting with some fellow travelers from Washington DC civil society groups, think tanks, and academia to share info and views on current ICANN/Internet governance issues. We’ll talk about the issues we’re working on within ICANN, e.g. IANA and accountability, but also human rights, privacy, FoE, trademarks, development, and IG generally (e.g. the NETmundial Initiative, IGF), and get views from the locals on how these issues are playing out in DC etc. Matt Shears from the Center for Democracy and Technology (NCUC member) has secured a room for us at their offices, and we’ll meet Wednesday 14th 10am-12pm or so. I’m scurrying now to invite some folks and it is starting to look interesting. Matt and others have offered to contact some folks as well. It’s not clear yet whether we can get a telephone bridge in place, but if we do, we’ll provide that info soon.
