Terrific idea, Bill! I like all the options, so if we can find funding from
supporters for the larger gathering, that would be great, but if not, we can
do the smaller constituency dinner. But we really should celebrate this.
ICANN has never acknowledged NCUC's longevity, but other ACs have "birthday"
celebrations nearly every year on ICANN's tab.
Thanks,
Robin

Hi
Sometimes I am rather slow to think of things..
The Non-Commercial Domain Names Holders Constituency (which later became
NCUC) and other GNSO constituencies were officially recognized by the ICANN
Board on Monday 18 October 1999

We did nothing last year to celebrate our 15th anniversary, which shows some
resilience as Internet-oriented civil society networks go. But if there's
sufficient interest, we could make up for it by doing something for our
16th. After all we'll be in Dublin, hardly a bad place for libation and
such. 18 October 2015 is Sunday night, and as far as I know thus far
there's nothing major scheduled that would prevent us from doing something.
Or we could it after Constituency Day, on Tuesday 20th, assuming there's no
music night. This might be more sensible as we'll have just spent the day
together etc.
3 possible scenarios requiring ascending levels of effort:
1. We assemble all members who will be in attendance and reserve a room in
a good pub or restaurant. If the EC approves, we could put the bill on
NCUC's tab.
2. We assemble all members who will be in attendance plus some invited
co-conspirators, in which case it might make sense to ask for space at the
conference site.
3. We hold an open to all party.
For 2 or 3 we probably would need to seek outside funding, e.g. from ICANN
and past supporters, e.g. PIR, CGI.br <http://CGI.br/> , etc.
If we wanted we could have some vets make welcoming remarks, make it
amusing. Hire an Irish singer with a guitar. Decorate the place with Milton
masks and ask Alex Pisanty to keynote (kidding).whatever.
Does this have any appeal to anyone? If so we could create an organizing
team. If not, ok no worries, just a thought.
Best
Bill
