Subject: ***SPAM*** [NCUC-DISCUSS] Please Check In for the NCSG Election

Hello

Just a reminder for NCUC members, especially those who are relatively new: we have two election cycles per year, and it is really important to strength and standing of our community in the ICANNsphere that people participate in both. The steps involved can be performed in one - two minutes, so we’d really appreciate your support, fellow volunteers and Maryam work hard to make these things happen.

The first cycle is the NCSG election for a new chair and to fill three Council slots that’s on now. As indicated in Rafik’s message below, voting begins 1 September and ends 14 September. Everyone who wants to vote needs to “check in” by sending Rafik and Maryam a quick note so they count you as Active and send a ballot. Please see Rafik’s instructions below if you haven’t.

The second cycle will be the NCUC election for a new chair and to fill the five regional representative slots on the NCUC Executive Committee (the incumbents can stand again, none having reached the three year term limit, although two I know will not). We always do this late November/first half of December, so we get a breather between election cycles and all they entail administratively. No check in will be required for NCUC. If anyone is interested in getting more deeply involved, you might want to consider standing for one of these slots.

But first, let’s all check in for NCSG, please.

Thanks

Bill

Hi,

Since there was some questions about the election, few points below to clarify:

*	As it was mentioned several time in the different announcement made in the list, the details are put in this page, with the timeline, voting process, list of candidates: https://community.icann.org/display/gnsononcomstake/Elections-201 <https://community.icann.org/display/gnsononcomstake/Elections-2015> 5

the page will be updated regularly, please refer to it.

*	We have a ongoing check-in process, all NCSG members received notifications and those who didn't check yet are receiving regular reminders to do so. We are also contacting them directly .

the list of active members is here https://community.icann.org/display/gnsononcomstake/NCSG+Annual+Check-In+Process so please double-check your status there.

The check-in is easy, just send email  to ( <mailto:rafik.dammak at gmail.com> rafik.dammak.ncsg at gmail.com) and  <mailto:maryam.bakoshi at icann.org> maryam.bakoshi at icann.org.

*	Regarding the nomination, I copied-pasted below the email I sent in 10th August, the process is still ongoing

There will be more information coming in timely manner: candidates statement, explanation about voting and how to cast the ballot etc. Also planning to have confcall for candidates and members .

Best Regards,

Rafik Dammak

Any member of the NCSG may nominate any NCSG active member either for the position of an NCSG GNSO Council Representative or for NCSG Chair.
Once nominated, the nominee is responsible for public acceptance of the nomination and for making a public statement that includes:

·        Name, declared region of residence, gender and employment;

·        Any conflicts of interest;

·        Reasons for willingness to take on the tasks of the particular position;

· Qualifications for the position; and

· Statement of availability for the time the position requires.

· The nominee’s statement may also include any other information that the candidate believes is relevant.

** Also note that under the rules, no more than two (2) NCSG GNSO Council Representatives can be declared resident of the same geographic region as defined by ICANN. The 3 other continuing NCSG GNSO Councilors (those not up for election in 2015) are from the following regions: Asia Pacific, Europe and North America. This means there could only be one additional person elected from each of those already represented regions, and that would be determined by the top vote getter from that region in 2015.

** These terms all commence on 22 October 2015, at the conclusion of the 2015 Annual ICANN Meeting in Dublin.
