I talked about these alternative DNS systems a long time ago...

The main problem is not that they exist. In my view, is that they will not
be coherent with each other, thus allowing for abc.pirate to point at one
machine in OpenNic, and to another machine in any other alternative DNS
provider.

And, ultimately, this undermines ICANN function.
