Dear All:
The time-table and details on the upcoming 2012 NCSG annual election are
below. The candidate nomination period runs 10-20 August, and the voting
takes place 4-18 September 2012 for all positions.
Nominations of candidates, their acceptance and the required candidacy
statement should all be made to this NCSG email list by the dates below to

2. GNSO Council Representative (currently held by Mary Wong, who will be
"term-limited" for this position)

3. GNSO Council Representative (currently held by Rafik Damak, who will
be "term-limited" for this position)

4. NCSG Chair (currently held by Robin Gross, who is eligible for 1 more

NCSG Election Schedule:
Aug. 10 : Open Nominations for Candidates
Aug. 20 : Close Nominations for Candidates (made & accepted)
Aug. 26 : Candidates Make Public Statement (see details below)

Sept. 18 : End Voting
Sept. 20 : Announce Election Results
Nomination Process:
Any member of the NCSG may nominate any NCSG active member either for the
position of an NCSG GNSO Council Representative or for NCSG Chair.
Once nominated, the nominee is responsible for public acceptance of the
nomination and for making a public statement that includes:
Name, declared region of residence, gender and employment;
Any conflicts of interest;
Reasons for willingness to take on the tasks of the particular position;
Qualifications for the position; and
Statement of availability for the time the position requires.
The nominee’s statement may also include any other information that the
candidate believes is relevant.
** Also note that under the rules, no more than two (2) NCSG GNSO Council
Representatives can be declared resident of the same geographic region as
defined by ICANN. The 3 continuing NCSG GNSO Councilors are from the
following regions: Asia-Pacific, North America, Europe.
** These terms all commence on 20 October 2012 (at the conclusion of the
2012 Annual ICANN Meeting).
** You all should have received an email notice from me requesting that
you "check-in" and verify your email address and that you are an active
member of the SG. Only active members may vote in the NCSG annual
election, so be sure to check your email folders and find that email
notice from me and respond before 20 August 2012, to avoid being placed on
the inactive list. If you haven't received the check-in notice yet and
you've checked all your email folders and spam folders, and still can't
find the check-in request, please shoot me a note off-list and we'll sort
it out right away.
** The nominations, their acceptance and candidacy statements will all be
posted to the 2012 elections wiki page:
https://community.icann.org/display/gnsononcomstake/Elections+2012
If you have any questions on any of this, please do not hesitate to ask
me. Thank you!
All best,
Robin Gross
NCSG Chair
