Invitation to critical online Civil Society meeting

En la reunión ICANN en París del 23 al 28 de Junio algunas reformas pueden llevarse a cabo las cuales podrían mejorar grademente la estructura representativa de ICANN. En resumen, la representación de usuarios no comerciales (grupos de interés público, ONGs, e individuos del lado de interés público) se incrementará de un porcentaje actual de 14% a un posible 25% o un tercio. Esto también involucrará un cambio en la naturaleza de la representación de interés no comercial en ICANN.

Nos gustaría invitar a todas las organizaciones de la sociedad civil con intereses en internet y su gobernanza global a tomar en cuenta y sacar el mayor provecho de esto. Estaremos usando  herramientas de colaboración en línea para extender esta reunión entre los usuarios miembros ICANN no comerciales (NCUC) y el consejo amplio consultivo (ALAC) globalmente. No es necesario ir a París para participar en esta reunión. NCUC usará la plataforma Elluminate para permitir la participación remota en la reunión. Los participantes podrán hacer preguntas o participar en la discusión, así como  escuchar la discusiones que se llevan a cabo durante la reunión.

La reunión de la sociedad civil se llevará a cabo el Martes 24 de Junio, de 14:00 - 18:00 Hora Paris. Las primeras dos horas serán de discusión sobre temas de política general para las organizaciones no comerciales, la segunda mitad (de 14:00 - 18:00) coincidirá con la reunión entre los usuarios miembros ICANN no comerciales (NCUC) y el consejo amplio consultivo (ALAC).

ENGLISH

At the Paris meeting of ICANN June 23 - 28 some reforms may be made

which could greatly improve ICANN's representative structure. In a

nutshell, representation of noncommercial users (public interest groups,

NGOs, and individuals of a public interest bent) will be increased from

its current 14%, possibly to 25% or one-third. This will also involve a

change in the nature of noncommercial interest representation in ICANN.

We'd like to invite all civil society organizations with an interest in

the Internet and its global governance to be aware of this and take

advantage of it. So we are using online collaboration tools to extend

the meeting between the ICANN Noncommercial Users Constituency (NCUC)

and the At-Large Advisory Committee (ALAC) globally. You do not have to

go to Paris to participate. NCUC will be using the Elluminate platform

to permit remote participation in the meeting. Attendees will be able to

pose questions or participate in the discussion. They will be able to

hear discussions going on in the meeting.

The civil society meeting will be held Tuesday June 24, from 14:00 -

18:00 Paris time. The first two hours will be a general policy issue

discussion for noncommercial organizations, the second half (from 14:00

- 18:00) will coincide with the joint meeting between the Noncommercial

Users Constituency (NCUC) and the At-Large Advisory Committee (ALAC).
