let's try for a Sunday call?

Robin,

I really appreciate the "nontechie" explanation as I am decidedly
"nontechie." The firewall on our system does not allow the use of
Skype. However, I have a pc at home that I can upgrade and configure
for a call. Not sure if I will have my act together for Sunday so I may
miss this call but I will make sure that I am ready for the next.

I am also looking into the possibility of attending the PR meeting. It
would have to be self-funded but I have friends in San Juan and I may be
able to get free housing.

If I don't meet you next month, I will certainly meet you in Asia.

I read your web site and I am very interested in your organization's
mission. Although I am a trademark attorney and very active in INTA, I
agree that there has to be a balance between IP rights and free
expression. You may be surprised to know that there are many in INTA who
agree with me.

INTA is definitely willing to talk to interested parties in working out
compromises that the noncom and commercial communities can live with.

I always remind people that in the case of trademarks, the laws are
there to protect CONSUMERS.

Lori

Hi Lori,

Disclaimer: non-techie explanation:

Skype is basically a software program that allows your computer to send
and receive voice (& other things). So its like a telephone on your
computer and you use your computer's speakers and microphone (or
separate headset). And the free skype service connects to other skype
users together for free. So it is software that allows us to have a
conference call through our computers.

So the first step is to download and install the skype software. You
pick a username. You add our usernames to your list of connections,
and we do the same for your username. Then when we launch the skype
software on our computers, we can see who else on our list is online and

available for a chat (voice or text). So we can hold our voice
conference call through the computer using skype and it is entirely free

for all participants in all parts of the world.

You can certainly find a better explanation at Skype:
http://www.skype.com/

Thanks,
Robin
