Next question: proxy services

With thanks for the response on part of our comments, we move on to the
second set of questions. Does anyone have experiences (good or bad) with proxy
services? Proxy services are provided by registrars, ISPs and others where they
-- not the registrant -- put their information in the WHOIS database.
It seems like a nice solution except a) the domain name is not listed under
the registrant's name which makes the proxy seem like the owner -- something
that can create real problems for transfering or renewing domains, and b)
proxies (some examples show) give up the private information quite quickly when
asked especially by a big business... without supeonas or due process (so not much
privacy protection there).
But good examples would help for our comments. So: does anyone have any
experience or examples of proxy services -- good or bad?
Many thanks, Kathy
