Prompt divestiture of .org is not something
that should be evaded by Board members, Alejandro.
YJ's status as the organizer of an applicant has
no bearing on the importance of the commitment
to divest .org at a specific time.
It is written into the new contracts with Verisign.
Any attempt to delay that would require altering
the contract, which could open many rather ugly
cans of worms. It would also abort one of the
main reasons for allowing Verisign to retain a
long term property right over .com.
I hope that the Board will be responsible and
execute this task on the proper time frame.
ICANN's inability to execute this
process on time would be PURELY a failure of the
ICANN management, staff, and Board. It certainly
could NOT be blamed on an "excess of process,"
the DNSO, or At-large promoters, now could it?
The DNSO, for all its flaws, delivered the goods
on time in this case.

YJ made a motion for the prompt divestiture of .org. Since she herself expressed she is in a position of
conflict of interest on this matter (even while she was on the Names Council this position had already
appeared) the constituency only took note.
