Nominet, the current operator of Britain's country-code top-level domain,
has revised plans to allow more information about .uk registrants to be
publicly disclosed--plans that had drawn privacy objections from many
Internet users. Under the revised scheme, "non-trading individuals" who wish
to prevent such details as home addresses from being readily divulged will
be allowed to choose Internet service providers or registration agents as
contact points. "Non-trading individuals who are eligible to opt-out
comprise those who are not using or intending to use their domain name in
the course of a business, trade or profession."
