The Spanish Ministry of Science and Technology (El Ministerio de Ciencia y
Technología) has begun a public consultation period concerning possible new
rules for .es. These proposed changes include new subdomains within the
Spanish country-code top-level domain (such as .nom.es for personal webpages
and .org.es for non-profit organizations/social initiatives) as well as
changes to .es registration procedures. This public consultation period is
scheduled to end on May 3, 2002.
