Sure, I will explain my reasoning.
Apologies for the brevity of the other note,
I dashed it off while at the ICANN meeting.
Top priority: someone must do the work and
consistently participate. EH Chun has
proven himself as a "regular" participant.
Second, EH Chun has shown consistent interest
in the representational issues. For example,
at the latest meeting he organized the
developing country NCDNHC members and got
them to prepare a statement to be read before
the Board. So, this shows me he knows how to
consult with others and work effectively with
them. Likewise, he in always in communication
on the list.
Third, I think he is tough and perhaps even
critical enough to deal with the likes of
Marilyn Cade and the Verisign representatives.
Both of these major economic interests play
a prominent role in the Task Force, and will
try to pull our representative over to their
side.
That is why I nominated him. Now, for the
procedural stuff, we agreed in Marina del
Rey to have the Adcom vote on the list of
nominees that emerged from the list.
I would consider appointing people to task
forces to be "administrative" and we have
been and will continue to be hurt if this
administrative task is not executed quickly
and efficiently.
Hope this answers your questions.
