A court in Beijing has reproached the China Internet Network Information
Centre (CNNIC) over its policy of pre-reserving domain names on behalf of
trademark holders. The case arose after CNNIC banned a local company from
registering www.2688.com, claiming that the requested term's Chinese
pronounciation was too similar to a name the Centre had already retained,
alibaba.com.
