Re: widget. I didn't have a single minute today to look into that, but curious as well. Will let you know if I find the trick.

Fwiw, I went with plan B and totally revamped the home page. So no need to put it back to what it was.  Although I would like to know what happened to that widget...

When updating plugins today, one of the boxes (Latest News) on the
home page got botched up.  I cannot find any widget in the Appearance
section (in fact, only 3 of the 5 on home page show up), so I'm not
even sure if its a widget or plugin that someone created and edited.
