I'm not sure the current process is working so well. My limited perspective
is we're getting a lot of NCUC only proposals and the ones we do get
jointly agreed upon is based largely on the work of NCUC members. NPOC is
being a bit parasitic. I'm not sure that is good for either constituency.

As noted, the NCUC does have a PC. I'm not sure it will survive the Charter
re-write but I'm interested in speaking to my fellow EC members and see if
we might want to make some appointments. We do have some active policy
oriented members who have been doing good work but without any formal
constituency or SG position. It might be a good idea to give them a slot.
If we go that path, shouldn't they have an opportunity to initiate policy
discussion amongst NCUC members only?

I'm also hopeful that a more open, new list would encourage participation
by some of our more silent, newer members who may be a bit intimidated by
some of the rough give and take on the NCSG list. That said, I do
understand where you and Avri are coming from as well and you certainly
have legitimate concerns. In the end, it comes back to the role of
constituencies about which there is disagreement which is why I'm hesitant
to even nudge people in a certain direction.

with closed subscription and publicly archived. And AFAIK, there will be an
announcement list, we just haven't settled on specifics.


I hope it's possible to get a bit more input on this before moving forward.
I'm not sure we're at rough consensus yet,  with just three weighing in,
 and, in particular, I'd like to factor in the views of our Chair who,
according to the Charter, is pretty much omnipotent in matters relating to
lists. When Bill proposed the NCUC list I didn't get the impression he was
calling for creation of an administrative list, although I could be wrong.

Not sure it matters which way we go - we agree on that - but if we could
get a few more views on the matter all the better.
