<div dir="ltr">Hey all, <div><br></div><div>I have seen that Michael has already agreed with this on the NCSG thread but I dont think we should adopt this position, but I will explain it. Raoul might have been well intended but his announcement has interfered directly with a decision that only this group should take. <br><br>About this, I understand how we do not have a candidate for the North American rep slot at the EC but I dont think that a deadline that was announced on a sunday morning without any notification or discussion with you is acceptable or shows any respect with our membership. This email was completely out of line and inconsiderate with the level of independence of NCUC as a constituency and also does not encompass any discussions we might have had on this list in the recent days. <br><br>In light of it all, I would really wish you could agree with me on this. And that we could open a new process to fill the NA EC slot right after the elections just so we have a proper time to find a candidate. If we agree with this suggestion from Raoul we are also indirectly weakening the decision-making power of NCUC in these sort of deliberations, besides meddling with a process that was already agreed upon and communicated to our members. <br><br>But I would like to hear back from you. </div><div><br></div><div>best, </div><div>B</div><div><br></div><div><br></div></div><br><div class="gmail_quote"><div dir="ltr" class="gmail_attr">On Sun, May 31, 2020 at 2:02 PM Louise Marie Hurel <<a href="mailto:louise.marie.hsd@gmail.com">louise.marie.hsd@gmail.com</a>> wrote:<br></div><blockquote class="gmail_quote" style="margin:0px 0px 0px 0.8ex;border-left:1px solid rgb(204,204,204);padding-left:1ex"><div dir="ltr"><div>But the thing is, this will cause considerable disruption to our process. At the end of the day, it might actually be best for us to proceed with the timeline the way it is. We can have a more thorough discussion on the NCUC EC NA seat in the coming months and decide how to proceed. Expect the NCUC EC to have a discussion on this on a Sunday is not the right way to proceed - so I withdraw my previous remarks about considering the extension. I just saw the note on 17h being the proposed extension - it is virtually impossible and unfair to expect that a candidate that did not step up in the last period would immediately step up now. <br></div><div><br></div><div>Let's continue with the NCUC EC NA with no candidate and have more time for a thorough discussion on this.</div><div><br></div><div>All the best, </div><div><div><div dir="ltr"><div dir="ltr"><div><div dir="ltr"><div><div dir="ltr"><div><div dir="ltr"><div><div dir="ltr"><div dir="ltr"><div dir="ltr"><div dir="ltr"><div dir="ltr"><div dir="ltr"><div dir="ltr"><div dir="ltr"><div dir="ltr"><div dir="ltr"><div dir="ltr"><div dir="ltr"><div dir="ltr"><div dir="ltr"><div dir="ltr"><div><span style="font-family:arial,sans-serif"><br></span></div><div><div><div><div><div dir="ltr"><div dir="ltr"><div><div dir="ltr"><div><div dir="ltr"><div><div dir="ltr"><div><div dir="ltr"><div dir="ltr"><div dir="ltr"><div dir="ltr"><div dir="ltr"><div dir="ltr"><div dir="ltr"><div dir="ltr"><div dir="ltr"><div dir="ltr"><div dir="ltr"><div dir="ltr"><div dir="ltr"><div dir="ltr"><div dir="ltr"><div dir="ltr"><span style="font-family:arial,sans-serif"><font color="#000000"><b>Louise Marie Hurel</b></font></span></div><p style="margin:0cm 0cm 0.0001pt"><span style="font-family:arial,sans-serif"><font color="#000000"><span style="font-size:11px"></span></font></span></p><p style="margin:0cm 0cm 0.0001pt"><span style="font-family:arial,sans-serif"><font color="#000000"><span style="font-size:11px">Research and Project Development Cybersecurity and Digital Liberties Programme | Igarapé Institute</span></font></span></p><p style="margin:0cm 0cm 0.0001pt"><span style="font-family:arial,sans-serif"><font color="#000000"><span style="font-size:11px">PhD Student Data, Networks, and Society | London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE)</span></font></span></p><p style="margin:0cm 0cm 0.0001pt"><span style="font-family:arial,sans-serif"><a href="https://www.researchgate.net/profile/Louise_Marie_Hurel/publications" target="_blank"><font size="1">Publications <br></font></a></span></p><div><span style="font-family:arial,sans-serif"><font size="1" color="#000000">Skype: louise.dias | Twitter: <a href="https://twitter.com/LouMarieHSD" target="_blank">@LouMarieHSD</a><br></font></span></div><div><span style="font-family:arial,sans-serif"><font size="1" color="#000000"><span><a href="mailto:louise@igarape.org.br" target="_blank">louise@igarape.org.br</a></span></font></span></div><div><span style="font-family:arial,sans-serif"><font size="1" color="#444444"><a href="mailto:louise.marie.hsd@gmail.com" target="_blank">louise.marie.hsd@gmail.com</a> </font></span></div><div><span style="font-family:arial,sans-serif"><br></span></div><div><p class="MsoNormal" style="margin:0cm 0cm 0.0001pt;font-size:11pt"><span style="font-family:arial,sans-serif"><b><span style="font-size:9.5pt">Recent publication</span></b><span style="font-size:9.5pt">s:
