<span>I’ve been a NCUC member since 2016 and have had the great opportunity of participating in the Onboarding Program since February 2017 under the mentorship of Kathy Kleiman and along with Ayden Férdeline. Since March,
I have also been part of the Rights Protection Mechanism (RPMs) working group and it’s sub-team on Trademark Claims. The review of the Rights Protection Mechanisms is one of the main policy processes within NCUC’s scope, along with the Registration Directory
Service and New gTLD subsequent procedures working group. However, my interests within NCUC have been largely focused on rethinking some of the strategies for outreach and helping newcomers feel acquainted not only with ICANN and NCUC, but getting a hold of
how to engage in policy development processes such as the RPMs. I would be happy to transmit a bit of my experience as a not-so-newcomer in ICANN as well as talk about the onboarding program not only as an outreach-in-reach strategy but also as a space where
people can get to connect their interests with DNS-related issues. Also, I would be more than happy to help organize the outreach event, as I’ve been to two NCUC outreach events during the IGF (2015 and 2016), Johannesburg and Copenhagen. I believe it is crucial
to address the question of <i>how do we strike balance or perhaps connect IGF attendees’ interests (i.e. civil society groups/individuals during the Best Bits meeting) with the work we have been doing in NCUC?
</i>And the onboarding program is certainly a point of entrance to this connection within the ICANN ecosystem. </span></p>

it addresses the strong need to eradicate the persistent culture of internet shutdowns, and traditional methods of signing petitions being no longer impactful in bringing desired results, there is need to re-evaluate whether such drastic approaches will be
instrumental in providing sustainable solutions that promote a prosperous digital economy in the long run. <br>

We, however, are still looking for funding for the Geneva, Switzerland and looking of any NCUC fellowship to the IGF. I have been involved actively in NCUC mailing lists and events particularly the NCUC Outreach event in Johannesburg in South Africa earlier
this year. In addition, I have been involved in the on boarding focused on facilitating the integration of newcomers and those who want to get engaged more with ICANN policy making processes. <br>

The Noncommercial Users Constituency (NCUC) is a member of the Non-Commercial Stakeholder Group (NCSG) of ICANN's <wbr>Generic Names Supporting Organization (GNSO) constituted by Article XX, Section of ICANN's Bylaws. Its main objective is to represent the interests
and positions of individuals and the civil society involved in non-commercial Internet activities such as education, promotion of arts, religion, children's welfare, scientific research, and others using internet as a global communication method.The NCUC was
the original voice of non-commercial interests within ICANN; however, a major restructuring of the GNSO took place in 2008. The new structure allows for the number of constituencies to <wbr>constantly be in flux, while providing a constant voice through the Stakeholder
Groups. Thus, the NCUC was the predecessor of the NCSG, and is now a part of it.<br>
