I know Maria has done both policy and training work, and she knows ICANN and broader Internet governance very well indeed, and has a long history with NCUC and an even longer one with ICANN. I’m not sure if she is still in the training and policy business, but we can always ask.

Another small firm that I am familiar with is Policy Australia Ltd. http://policyaustralia.com.au/, especially Carolyn Dalton. They do not, as far as I am aware, have specific experience with ICANN, but they have worked on a really wide range of Internet policy issues otherwise, and are particularly good on working with broad policy coalitions. I’ve worked with them on intellectual property reform campaigns and related issues.

I agree that working with a CSO might be useful, and the issue of discussing grants as well as policy documents in worth considering.

Access Now and OpenTech would be good choices, APC might be another group worth talking to as I’m sure they have dealt with the issue of policy training themselves.

David

On 21 Aug 2017, at 11:01 am, Renata Aquino Ribeiro <raquino@gmail.com> wrote:

Hello

Since the program really is about training in writing public comments
it would be good to get someone who had experience in that

Maria Farrell sounds like a good idea since she is former NCUC and
ICANN policy staff
https://icannwiki.org/Maria_Farrell

Alternatively choosing a CSO which provides grants on policy and
advocacy to do this training would be good too because it would also
help NCUC focus on its growth as organization too.
If so my suggestions would be OpenTech Fund or AccessNow.

Maybe we can do both, get a CSO and a consultant who could pair up in
this project.

Best,

Renata

On Sun, Aug 20, 2017 at 10:58 PM, farzaneh badii
<farzaneh.badii@gmail.com> wrote:

Dear All,

As you know our additional budget request was approved for policy practicum
for NCUC for the amount of 20,000.
