<p>Thanks for the report Wolfgang.. and for all your earlier
reports. NomCom work is demanding and doing it under these
circumstances must have been so much more demanding. From my own
experience on NomCom I know how important the face to face
gatherings were... so very challenging to work without them. Thank
you to you and well done to NomCom. <br>

<div> Dear NCUcer, <br>
</div>
<div> <br>
</div>
<div> this is my last report as the
NCUC Rep. from the NomCom 2020. </div>
<div> <br>
</div>
<div> You have seen already the
final nominations. As you know, the NomCom operates under the
principle of confidentiality so I can not add any specific
background. </div>
<div> <br>
</div>
<div> However, in the NomCom we are
looking for a maximum of transparency with regard to procedure.
So I can tell you, that we did have seven days en suite virtual
meetings with all NomCom members sitting in different time zones
from California to the Far East. Every day the 14 voting NomCom
members, the NomCom Leadership team and ICANN NomCom Staff were
linked together for about eight hours in front of a screen
(S2S). We did have ten online interviews with the shortlisted
candidates for the ICANN Board and the PTI Board. We did not
have interviews with the shortlisted candidates for ALAC, CNSO
and GNSO. Each online interview was about one hour. We prepared
the interview with a one hour internal discussion, where two
NomCom deep divers presented the candidate and NomCom members
discussed their strengths and weaknesses. After the interview we
did have another one hour discussion where we evaluated the
performance of the candidate. In parallel, each NomCom member
made his/her individual rating of the interviewed candidate in a
special personalized matrix. <br>
</div>
<div> <br>
</div>
<div> After six days of interviews,
we did have another full day for the final selection meeting. We
did reach agreement on the nomination for all the seven
positions, as you have seen now in the official announcement. </div>
<div> <br>
</div>
<div> It was a risky but exciting
journey through those virtual proceedings. The courage of the
leadershipo team to ignore sceptical warnings was finally
justified. Special kudos has to go to ICANN staff, which
organized this one week virtual meeting with all the online
interviews without any communication problems. At the end,
NomCom 2020 produced a lot of new experiences and lessons
learned. Covid 19 is bad. But it offers also oppportunities to
enter new territory. And the NomCom 2020 did it. </div>
<div> <br>
</div>
<div> Once again thanks for your
support and trust. As you know, I will continue as NCUC Rep in
the NomCom 2021. Lets wait and see what we learned from 2020. I
will report back as soon as something is worth to be reported. <br>
</div>
<div> <br>
</div>
<div> Best wishes <br>
</div>
