What i am saying is if these commercial orgs. have support and will support even if google does work in the same direction as the NCUC as a civil society group and have objectives and a clear line to support. One of the early signs is that US government at least the DoD (US Dept of Defense) have started to move to Microsoft cloud solutions and the first thing they would be looking at is how protected the data are. I would say with all cautiousness that if they are doing so. hey have evaluated there risks so yes why not. They have a clear program with clear standards and agreements and they do fund such programs why not when they are able to help in sponsoring.</div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class="">However, i still believe that there should be no compromise on what the NCUC is doing and continues to do. Improvement is a process and does not happen overnight but that does not means we do not engage those who are not active. It may take its time but each member is important and counts. The how can and will take different forms. But calling on them and have one on one is important. Funding is not an easy one. This is one of the things which is where the influential NGO’s may well come in handy if we are in the same page. Some private companies can also support in terms of cicil rights. We have seen quite a few doing that including “Microsoft”. There are wonderful foundations out there that can be interesting sources of sponsorship. Even i am getting burnout with all the different WT but one thing is clear there is lots to learn and understand and the strategies that are happening and who benefits. Burnout is real problem as i see the same people everywhere to defend. The reality is we need to ensure that those joining and those who are not active find their ways back. It is not about connection it is about understand how to interact and how to fit in those PDP processes. As some may feel left out and they just give up and go. I did the same thing way back and i will not hide it. But then of course i was already engaged in other board that may have conflicted my views. The catch 22 in here is that people have contributed so much by themselves it comes to a point that you realize you cannot be doing everything on your own and you look back and no one is behind you. I know the feeling very well. We must be able to delve in our membership and bring that fire back up. They need to feel that they are contributing for something and that also means recognition, reduce the friction, have more insight that makes the membership trigger to the light. Its never perfect but we need to revive and see things differently. We need to able to use resources effectively because all of us are plain volunteers. Even if it comes down to be where we need to decide and help people in making their choices where we may see them fit. But we cannot pull the string to its extremes because it will break sooner or later then we don’t find these people again. There is no solution that fits all but i would really wish that our membership understand what the NCUC is all about and what members bring to the table. We have a lot of members who are more than experienced to help the upcoming ones. I may end up talking like a lawyer here but one of the bigger challenges we face is that people do consider the GNSO and the whole constituencies as a group of “MAFIA” let’s be clear about it. We need to beat out of this tag. Bottom up process dictates that members have a right to know and understand what lead to such and such decisions. My take is that we may have to define clear processes that the membership sees things were not done in a biased way. Some things might end up being confidential because of sensitivity of the situation. But as to the rest i do not see why we cannot be very open and transparent in our approach.
