<div dir="ltr">Thank you Bill for asking my question. <div><br></div><div>I think the person in charge argued that they in NomCom did not have many visa issues ??? Well why would you have a Sub-Committee on visa then ! It is beyond me. </div><div><br></div><div>I don't care if this was a subcommittee only on nomcom visa issues and they didnt have to ask the community. I wanted to see how they functioned and what was the result because it is an issue that affects us all.</div><div><br></div><div>What I was trying to get at is: Tackling visa issues should be a joint effort . If not, we cannot tackle it. If they had a sub-committee on visa issues and then the result was : oh visa is beyond our control! then it is gonna affect others in the community who are working to resolve the issue! It is very careless! I received an email from another community member asking me : have you worked with these guys, what are their solutions ?<br></div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div><br></div></div><div class="gmail_extra"><br><div class="gmail_quote">On 9 March 2016 at 13:01, William Drake <span dir="ltr"><<a href="mailto:william.drake@uzh.ch" target="_blank">william.drake@uzh.ch</a>></span> wrote:<br><blockquote class="gmail_quote" style="margin:0 0 0 .8ex;border-left:1px #ccc solid;padding-left:1ex"><div style="word-wrap:break-word"><div>Hi Farzi</div><div><br></div><div>I hadn’t seen your message until you mentioned it on the conference Skype. I have seen the NomCom report card for January and have a question. </div><div><br></div><div>In NomCom, there was a Travel Logistics Sub-Committee . This logistic committee was "in charge to suggest solutions to problems related Visa and other issues." It had a chair and members. </div><div><br></div><div>The report says this Travel Sub-committee is closed and states : Closed with thanks from the Chair. <i>Visa issues are beyond our control</i>. Feedback on travel reimbursement issues requested from members for a meeting with the CFO. </div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div>Decisions on visas are ofcourse affected by many factors that can be controlled by us and some stuff is not beyond our control. Providing enough information for the participants, helping the less experienced participants with their visa issues etc. We have received good suggestions from some people that had visa issues in our informal working party on visas. </div><div><br></div><div>Moreover, I would like to know how the sub-committee functioned, did they reach out to the broader community? Did they provide suggestions ? Did they coordinate with ICANN staff and ask them about the problems? It’d be great to have some NCUC participants, both F2F and remote, to raise any issues they may have in mind about how the NomCom process operates, the currently open positions (applications due 20 March) and qualifications/disqualifications for these, etc. Below is a message the NC chair sent to the registries, as background.</div><div><br></div><div>Cheers</div><div><br></div><div>Bill</div><div><br></div>
