Those suggestions are interesting. If there is space left on the
document template we should consider putting them in.<br>

Bonjour à vous chers collègues francophones (ou francophiles)!<br>
<br>
J'ai fait une autre lecture du document et y fais quelques
changements, incluant la modification demandée par William. Il
est certain que cette version n'est toujours pas parfaite, alors
j'apprécierais si quelques-uns d'entre vous pouvaient la lire et
entamer une discussion sur les choix de traduction contentieux
qui y sont inévitables. En outre, je n'ai pas la prétention de
ne jamais faire d'erreurs de grammaire ou d'orthographe ;)<br>
<br>
De cette manière nous pourrions envoyer une version finale à
Maryam. SVP n'hésitez pas à faire valoir vos points de vue qui
ne peuvent qu'enrichir la représentativité de la diversité
culturelle francophone au sein de notre document de promotion. <br>
<br>
Merci d'avance!<br>

Gee, do we need to start a reverse translation service for the non
Francophones? Yes, I can read this, but when we start having
conversations in Thai and Chinese I'll be lost :-) Seriously, I
don't object to non-English posts, but it really would be a good
idea to include (even a rough) translation. That way the rest of
the group isn't isolated. <br>
<br>
Roughly (and no: while I didn't use automation, I'm not a native
speaker):<br>

Dear French-speaking colleagues (and those who like French
culture),<br>
<br>
I've made another pass over the document and made some changes,
including the one requested by William. Certainly, this version
isn't perfect, so I would appreciate it if some of you could read
it and moderate the inevitable discussion of the choices that I
made in its translation. I don't pretend to never make mistakes
with grammar or spelling :-)<br>
<br>
This way we will be able to send a final version to Maryam.
Please don't hesitate to add value with your points of view, which
can only enrich the representation of French-speaking culture and
its diversity in our promotional document.<br>
<br>
Thanks in advance.<br>

It's not a literal translation. I'm sure Nicholas will chime in
if I misrepresented him. <br>
<br>
I don't think I have the language skills to do a good review of
the document - but I will note that it is currently a fairly
literal translation.<br>
<br>
That's fine, but I think it (and probably the other translations)
need some additional material. Specifically:<br>
<br>
"Group discussions are in English, but we welcome speakers of
other languages. We have many members who speak multiple
languages, either natively or as secondary languages. These
members are happy to help you to understand the conversation and
to express your points of view. It is not necessary to speak or
write in perfect English to participate in e-mail,
teleconferences, meetings or document preparation. Members who
speak/write in secondary languages make mistakes too."<br>
<br>
"The ICANN website and documents are available in several
languages, including French."<br>
<br>
I could go either way on whether to include this language in the
English version. They don't need to be identical.<br>
<br>
I've probably missed some points - hopefully you'll think of what
else is necessary to make the group be more approachable.<br>
