<p dir="ltr">Following up on Bill's remark about the survey (at <a href="http://goo.gl/XlwyQL">http://goo.gl/XlwyQL</a> ), I do urge everyone to fill it. It may appear long but the questions were formulated in a way so that they could be answered rather quickly, plus many are optional. </p>
<p dir="ltr">So far we have got around a dozen responses on the first day so a special thank you to the early respondents. Yet we're hoping to have many more in the next days.</p>

As you know, we sent out a questionnaire link yesterday where we are trying to gather input from members on precisely the sorts of points you raise under 1 and 2. If you could fill that in with the same ideas we’ll have them in the right place to facilitate follow up discussion.</div><div><br></div><div>As to BA, please don’t assume that a meeting is definitely on, we are just discussing, and there are many variable that have to be sorted out before a decision is reached. Normally such events are geared toward exploring some current and contentious policy issues and getting civil society views on the table, so the target audience is more external than internal, but if something happens we could consider stapling onto it some sort of special NCUC briefing for newer members as well.</div><div><br></div><div>Thanks much</div><div><br></div><div>Bill</div><div><br><div><blockquote type="cite"><div>On Mar 10, 2015, at 11:09 AM, Rao Naveed Bin Rais <<a href="mailto:naveedbinrais@gmail.com" target="_blank">naveedbinrais@gmail.com</a>> wrote:</div><br><div><div dir="ltr">Hi Bill and everyone,<div><br></div><div>Thanks for your wishes. Following on the discussion, if I could provide my bit, I have following to propose:</div><div><br></div><div>1) As a recent member to join NCUC who is enthusiastic enough to contribute as well, I feel myself a bit lagging behind the stuff NCUC does even after around 1 years of following what is going on. As we have a number of new comers joining NCUC/NCSG almost after every meeting, I propose to have some kind of mentorship to associate 2-3 new members to each of the contributing members (volunteers, of course) who can be there to help new bees getting more knowledge about the stuff going on. This could be quite productive as it may allow new comers to learn about many things quite quickly.</div><div><br></div><div>2) Another thing that could be done to involve new people is to have a call for volunteers (for new members) to work on a specific task that NUCU/NCSG is dealing at present. This task may be a less important one but it will allow these members to get involved in the community process straightaway. I am not sure how realistic this idea is, but just a proposal.</div><div><br></div><div>3) As you are planning a pre-meeting in BA, it would be nice to have an orientation session in that pre-meeting or at any other point during ICANN meeting that gives more information about NCUC/NCSG and the policies they are dealing with currently. This not only will allow quick learning for new members, it could further attract more members for the constituency.</div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div>Thanks.</div><div><br></div><div>Cheers,</div><div>Naveed -</div><div class="gmail_extra"><br><div class="gmail_quote">On Sun, Mar 8, 2015 at 2:40 PM, William Drake <span dir="ltr"><<a href="mailto:william.drake@uzh.ch" target="_blank">william.drake@uzh.ch</a>></span> wrote:<br><blockquote class="gmail_quote" style="margin:0 0 0 .8ex;border-left:1px #ccc solid;padding-left:1ex"><div style="word-wrap:break-word">Hi<br><div><br></div><div>I see a few current NCUC members on the list of people who will be covered to attend the ICANN meeting in Buenos Aires in June, although per usual they’re not always listed as such, a continuing puzzle:</div><div><br></div><div><div><span style="white-space:pre-wrap"> </span>• Arsene Tungali Baguma – Democratic Republic of the Congo – Civil Society / At Large</div><div><span style="white-space:pre-wrap"> </span>• Farzaneh Badiei – Islamic Republic of Iran – Academic</div><div><span style="white-space:pre-wrap"> </span>• Jia He – China – Academic<br></div><div><span style="white-space:pre-wrap"> </span>• Joao Carlos Rebello Caribe – Brazil – Civil Society / GNSO</div><div><span style="white-space:pre-wrap"> </span>• Rao Naveed Bin Rais – Pakistan – Academic / GNSO</div><div><span style="white-space:pre-wrap"> </span>• Walid Al-Saqaf – Yemen – Academic / GNSO<br></div><br></div><div><br></div><div>Full list is at <a href="https://www.icann.org/news/announcement-2015-03-06-en" target="_blank">https://www.icann.org/news/announcement-2015-03-06-en</a></div><div><br></div><div>Congratulations to our Fellows, it will be great to have you with us in BA.</div><div><br></div><div>For other qualifying members, the application round for the Dublin meeting in October will be 3 April to 15 May.
