Committee met in Washington DC on Monday 12 January, primarily to deal with our appointments to various posts for the coming year. Brief minutes will be posted to the website in the coming days, in the meanwhile I’d like to announce the following decisions here:</div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class=""><br class="">External to the EC<br class=""><br class="">NCUC Reps. to the NCSG Executive Committee </div><div class="">Robin Gross will continue for another term, and Tapani Tarvainen will replace Milton Mueller after four years of service in this role. Welcome Tapani, we look forward to working with you, and thanks Milton.<br class=""><br class="">NCUC Rep. to the Public Interest Registry<br class="">We decided to follow the simplest route with this, since the chair anyway needs to be in touch with PIR for its annual financial contribution etc. he may as well be the rep too, so I’ve been appointed.<br class=""><br class="">NCUC Reps. to the GNSO’s Standing Committee on Improvements<br class="">Amr Elsadr has been reappointed, and David Cake has been reappointed his alternate. Both are Councilors and Amr is also chairing the NCSG PC this year, so it might have been better if we’d had candidatures from former Councilors or others intimately familiar with Council work, but we didn’t. Should anyone like that step forward in the months ahead, we can revisit our options then.</div><div class=""><br class=""></div><div class="">Treasurer <br class="">Milton Mueller is reappointed.<br class=""><br class="">Membership Affairs Team</div><div class="">Walid Al-Saqaf is appointed the Coordinator of this team, the purpose of which is to focus on “in-reach” to existing members and ways to facilitate engagement, especially by new members. This is further to the conversation on ncuc-discuss in the run-up to the election, in which a number of folks expressed concern about the need for new efforts in this area. I am delighted that Walid stepped up and offered to serve in this capacity. The team was launched in 2013 but sort of drifted off after a few months due to a lack of leadership and participation, but we still have a dormant email list with some subscribers that can be used to boot this up. <a href="http://lists.ncuc.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/membership-affairs" class="">http://lists.ncuc.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/membership-affairs</a> Interested members please subscribe and support Walid in moving this forward.
