Today is the deadline for nominations, and there haven¡¯t been any yet (nor self-nominations), and the current chair is term-limited after serving two one-year terms.<br>> <br>> I have learnt that Anne Aikman-Scalese, the IPC¡¯s representative to the SCI is interested in assuming the role of Chair. As the NCUC representative to the SCI, I am willing to nominate her, but thought I¡¯d bring it up here first in case there are any objections to me doing this.<br>> <br>> Anne¡¯s been a pretty attentive and active member of the SCI on pretty much all the projects the committee¡¯s had to undertake since I¡¯ve been a member. In case there are any concerns about nominating a member of the IPC to chair this committee, I should note that this committee is not one that handles contentious policy issues, but rather is a committee that works to review the GNSO operating procedures trying to make them and the GNSO¡¯s work as efficient as possible. The committee only forwards recommendations to the GNSO council if and when full consensus of the committee has been achieved, so the chair¡¯s role is one of coordination of the committee¡¯s duties. As far as I can tell, Anne seems to be the only member willing to chair the committee, and I don¡¯t see a problem in nominating her.
