I would like to nominate Bill Drake for the position of NCUC Chair. <div><br></div><div>Bill has a wealth of experience within ICANN, and the Internet governance world generally. He knows how the GNSO, and GNSO Council in particular, works in great detail, knows a great deal about ICANN generally, knows how ICANN fits into the global landscape, and is a noted scholar on these areas as well as practical experience. He is always engaged, and works hard in many ways to improve NCUC and ICANN. And his first term as NCUC chair has seen a lot of terrific improvements in the way the constituency functions. </div><div><br></div><div>NCUC will face many challenges in the next year, in terms of how it will fit into a changing ICANN landscape while continuing efforts to remain a strong, diverse, effective and open constituency. I think Bill is an excellent choice to lead us in facing those challenges. </div><div><br></div><div>Regards</div><div><br></div><div>David</div><div><br><div style="direction: ltr;"><div>On 27 Oct 2013, at 7:10 pm, William Drake <<a href="mailto:william.drake@uzh.ch">william.drake@uzh.ch</a>> wrote:</div><br><blockquote type="cite"><div><meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html charset=utf-8"><div style="word-wrap: break-word; -webkit-nbsp-mode: space; -webkit-line-break: after-white-space; ">Hi<div><br></div><div>Now that NCSG has wrapped up its annual election, it is NCUC's turn. In the recently concluded election, this resulted in a fairly large number of members, including NCUC members, being declared Inactive. <a href="https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AmHFgvYjF_e4dGIycFJVenFSak9ZWDdRdXVlNXdBV2c&usp=sharing#gid=0">https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AmHFgvYjF_e4dGIycFJVenFSak9ZWDdRdXVlNXdBV2c&usp=sharing#gid=0</a></div><div><br></div><div>NCUC has never done a check-in, and has opted for simple majority votes instead. For example, last year 140 votes were cast, and one position was decided by a single vote <a href="https://listserv.syr.edu/scripts/wa.exe?A2=ind1212&L=NCSG-DISCUSS&F=&S=&P=14878">https://listserv.syr.edu/scripts/wa.exe?A2=ind1212&L=NCSG-DISCUSS&F=&S=&P=14878</a>. Which suggests a) we really should try to increase the overall voter turn out this year, and b) every vote counts, so please participate. </div><div><br></div><div>While we don't check-in, we do need to send to the GNSO Secretariat a list of eligible voters. <b>We must have your correct current email address in order for you to receive a ballot. </b>Tapani Tarvainen <<a href="mailto:ncuc@TAPANI.TARVAINEN.INFO">ncuc@TAPANI.TARVAINEN.INFO</a>> is maintaining our data base. So please send him your details if you did not respond to him in the Spring when he pulled member addresses from the NCSG list to launch ncuc-discuss, or for that matter to Robin's recent NCSG check-in. You might want to check that you are correctly listed at <a href="http://www.ncuc.org/participate/members/">http://www.ncuc.org/participate/members/</a> as well.</div><div><br></div><div>Thanks much,</div><div><br></div><div>Bill</div><div><br></div><div><br><div apple-content-edited="true">
