[NCUC-DISCUSS] Greetings around Singapore

Dear Friends on the way to Singapore - or staying home,

I had hoped I could make it to Singapore, but finally I saw that I
couldn't do it. It might have been another "last" ICANN meeting for me,
after having participated in quite a number from Santiago de Chile, in
1999, to Brussels in 2010.

Singapore is not far away - if I had sent this note earlier on, maybe
some of the travelers could have made a brief stop in transit here,
where I live and work now - no longer in the capital city of Phnom Penh,
but in the countryside, and - what is really almost tragic - without
Internet access. Only when I travel I can go online.

The simple good old Digital Divide still exists, in spite of all the
present discussions about NetNeutrality and the future of NTIA and of
ICANN, on the way to Brazil in April, and into the future.

I am still an Associate of the Open Institute, we do important work on
social communication in the Cambodian language and helping to facilitate
the use of the Khmer script - with 2 superscript and 2 subscript levels
- in mobile phones.

Sorry for intruding into the NCUC list, to greet friends traveling in
the region, remembering the many years when I was more active in NCUC,
some time a GNSO councilor, and finally in the Nominating Committee.

Have nice and productive meetings at this time of crossroads in Internet
Governance.

Norbert
