DESCRIPTION;LANGUAGE=en-US:Please join NCUC Africa for their webinar\, DNS
Abuse between ICANN’s Remit and Non-Commercial Interests in the African
Region.\n\nMonday\, 20 April 2026 at 15:00 UTC for 60 min. Check your time
  zone here<https://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/fixedtime.html?msg=NCUC+
 Africa+Webinar&iso=20260420T15&p1=%3A&ah=1>.\n\nPlease register here<https
 ://icann.zoom.us/meeting/register/5retM5d7Rh6pWqNl7-JiKg> to receive the Z
oom details.\nThe Domain Name System (DNS) is a critical component of the
internet’s infrastructure\, enabling users to access websites through hu
man-readable domain names. However\, the DNS is increasingly exploited for
malicious activities such as phishing\, malware distribution\, botnets\,
and spam—collectively referred to as DNS Abuse.\n\nWithin the multistake
holder model of the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (I
CANN)\, addressing DNS Abuse has become a priority.\n\nAs global concern o
ver cybersecurity grows\, there is increasing pressure on ICANN and contra
cted parties (registries and registrars) to take stronger action against D
NS Abuse. However\, debates persist about:\n\n * The scope of ICANN’
 s remit\n * The definition and categories of DNS Abuse\n * Risks o
f overreach into content regulation\n * Impacts on non-commercial user
 s and digital rights\nNon-commercial stakeholders—including civil societ
 y\, academia\, and end-user advocates—play a key role in ensuring that D
NS Abuse mitigation efforts respect human rights\, freedom of expression\,
  and privacy.\n\n
