It is always better to have two rather than one and we should encourage this spirit for our members to come forward and offer their expertise, time to support the work we are doing. We have always called for more participation and engagement from Africa and it starts with encouraging many people to come forward to seek our vote as a community and then for us to chose one (as it is only one seat).<br><br></div>Ines as our current Africa Rep has done very well and I have no intentions of saying she didn't do very well and that we should not vote her for a second term where i am sure she has got the potential to do better now that she knows how things work; but at another hand, i have no intention to say that Yolanda should withdraw because that i am sure (though she hasn't accepted the nomination yet) she is interested and is capable to be a good Africa rep.<br><br></div>My suggestion is that we should have the two run and then decide who to vote for after we have heard from both of them with regards to their plans. I am sure Ines is also interested in hearing what Yolanda has as plan and if Ines is elected, she might be willing to tap into that plan and work alongside Yolanda in making it a reality. Alternatively, if Yolanda is elected, she will (i believe) tap into what Ines had as plan because after all, they both look forward to supportour community at their best.<br><br></div>Finally, it won't be about who win and who love because it is all part of the learning process and each one of them will learn from the outcomes of the process. <br><br>Alternatively, I would suggest however in the future if we can discuss elections in our group here before the nomination period starts and agree on a single candidate and send nominate that one but since we are having this discussion after nominations are out, I would strongly suggest we go with the two; unless one has a different opinion and wants to withdraw to maximize the chances of the other one.<br><br></div>I hope this all make sense and again, they are just thoughts and are not fixed on a stone. I am happy to change my mind if the group agrees on a specific process to follow.<br><br></div>Regards,<br></div>Arsene<br></div><div class="gmail_extra"><br clear="all"><div><div class="m_39518022481372309gmail_signature" data-smartmail="gmail_signature"><div dir="ltr"><div><div dir="ltr"><div><div dir="ltr"><div><div dir="ltr"><div><div dir="ltr"><div><div dir="ltr"><div><div dir="ltr"><div><div dir="ltr"><div><div dir="ltr"><div><div dir="ltr"><div><div dir="ltr"><div><div dir="ltr"><div><div dir="ltr"><div><div dir="ltr"><div><div dir="ltr"><div><div dir="ltr"><div><div dir="ltr"><div><div dir="ltr"><div><div dir="ltr"><div><div dir="ltr"><div><div><div>------------------------<br>*<a href="http://about.me/ArseneTungali" target="_blank"><b>Arsène Tungali</b></a>*<br></div>Co-Founder & Executive Director, <span><i><a href="http://www.rudiinternational.org" target="_blank">Rudi international</a></i>,</span><br>CEO,<i> <a href="http://www.smart-serv.info" target="_blank">Smart Services Sarl</a></i>, <i><a href="http://www.mabingwa-forum.com" target="_blank">Mabingwa Forum</a></i> <br>Tel: <a href="tel:+243%20993%20810%20967" value="+243993810967" target="_blank">+243 993810967</a><i><br></i></div><div>GPG: 523644A0<i><br></i></div><div><u>Goma, Democratic Republic of Congo</u><i><br><br></i></div><div><a href="http://tungali.blogspot.com/2015/06/selected-for-2015-mandela-washington.html" target="_blank">2015 Mandela Washington Felllow</a> (YALI) - ISOC Ambassador (IGF <a href="http://www.internetsociety.org/what-we-do/education-and-leadership-programmes/next-generation-leaders/igf-ambassadors-programme/Past-Ambassadors" target="_blank">Brazil</a> & <a href="http://www.internetsociety.org/what-we-do/education-and-leadership-programmes/next-generation-leaders/Current-Ambassadors" target="_blank">Mexico</a>) <font face="monospace,monospace">- <a href="http://afrisig.org/afrisig-2016/class-of-2016/" target="_blank">AFRISIG 2016</a> - </font><a href="http://tungali.blogspot.com" target="_blank">Blogger</a> - ICANN Fellow (<a href="https://www.icann.org/news/announcement-2014-07-18-en" target="_blank">Los Angeles</a> & <a href="https://www.icann.org/resources/pages/marrakech55-attendees-2016-03-14-en" target="_blank">Marrakech</a>).<i> </i>AFRINIC Fellow<i> </i>(<a href="http://www.afrinic.net/en/library/news/1907-afrinic-25-fellowship-winners" target="_blank">Mauritius</a>)<i> - </i><a href="http://www.igfsa.org/" target="_blank">IGFSA Member</a> - Internet Governance - Internet Freedom.<i> </i><br><br>Check the <i>2016 State of Internet Freedom in DRC</i> report (<a href="http://cipesa.org/?wpfb_dl=234" target="_blank">English</a>) and (<a href="http://cipesa.org/?wpfb_dl=242" target="_blank">French</a>)<br></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div><div class="elided-text">

Elections will be held soon and nomination period is already open, so I think it could be good that we share a common vision or talk with the same voice. Firstly, Africa members should try to have at most 1 or two candidates to maximize his/her chance to be elected and we should all stand behind.</div><div><br></div><div>For this election period, I personaly think it would be wise to let Ines stand for the second sun of her term, however; having Yolanda as an alternate solution is also a good choice. Therefore, I encourage us to endorse Ines fo her second run (if she still wants to) while Yolanda is a good sucessor, and Renata for the position of NCUC chair. It is only a suggestion, anyone can come with another vision but don't get me wrong: the purpose of my e-mail is to suggest we talk with the same voice as much as possible.</div></div><div dir="ltr">-- <br></div><div class="m_39518022481372309m_-7298640352788646790m_-2090719483276301428m_-6182808485900993688gmail_signature" data-smartmail="gmail_signature"><div dir="ltr">Regards<div><div>@__f_f__</div><div><a href="https://www.linkedin.com/in/farellf" target="_blank">https://www.linkedin.com/in/fa<wbr>rellf</a> <br></div></div></div></div>
